My write up in The Kathmandu Post

Finally its good to know that  our players are busy. Certainly not the  political players we are sick of watching ,   but the genuine players on field.Players of every sport be it  football cricket and  others are on their fields enjoying the very rare chance they get in their lives. Representing Nepal .
SAG games have started and players from  8 countries of The Asian  subcontinent have gathered in Colombo. Nepalese players from every sporting category are trying their luck for the medals that are so scarce .
Cricketers whereas are trying to prove their worth in ACC Trophy, playing with 'passive cricketing nations'.
I see this as a sign of positive development coming out of never ending political circus , conflict and chaos that has inflicted our country for the past decade. There are rays of hopes that with the grand revolution or 'JANAANDOLAN' , with the looming REPUBLIC things would be just more better.
Sports is no exception. We have just seen  Jeevan Ram Shrestha  being appointed as member secretary of our National Sports Confederation with his grand plans and ideas. He says he has a clear picture of how NSC should be in next 2 years. The only problem here is every kid in the town thinks he can  run the goverment or do  its work . I think i dont need to quote a philosopher talking 'words  vs action' lines  to prove my point.
Being a keen follower  and well wisher of Nepali sports I have also few sets of ideas and the ways to implement it. I want my readers  to correct me if my immatureness is reflected on those suggestions.

Infrastructure development is the biggest  concern in todays Nepali sports sector. Building up few grounds and covered halls outside Kathmandu and preparing any other city to organise international sporting events would send a great signal to the young players accross the country aspiring to represent Nepal one day. This would not cost more than 1 billion  rupees as this is meagre sum compared to the money that is  wasted every year in our budget or the useless expenses on running loss making corporations.

S 500 players from every development region  should be regular goverment employees whose only job is to prepare and get ready to participate in sports tournaments. Their heirarchys should be determined by their service to the nation  and experience . Their  promotion and demotion  , getting in and getting out should depend on their performance.  Players winning  gold medals in south asian level should be made   permanent goverment staffs and sucess will suAddition of few thousand employees over hundreds of other 'not so fruitful employees' would certainly not   hinder our economy.

Follow up the technical progess happening in advanced countries  and try to replicate  it.
Focus on development of cricket as this is the most popular game in the subcontinent and we are the only country not playing it well. Viewing the enthusiasm and support people have for this game these days its difficult to understand why the administrative body is always underestimating this game. No cash prizes to the local tournament winners  no proper grounds are just the basic of concerns.

More than half of our A division football league clubs should come from outside the Capital with their own well developed home grounds. Considering the support and money we have for this game it does not look like a daunting task.
Finally finding  sponsors of every local team in the country.
There we go . With the simplest of efforts  we will be on our way to become a successful sporting nation.
This will eventually bring pride and renewed foreign investments in Nepal which will certainly benefit our economy.
Till then i will be dreaming an olympic medal ...
